1998 Mercury Engine 250 HP EFI 2 Stroke up for auction. it’s run roughly 2 hours per month for the last year and a half.
Prior to that it had been stored by the previous owner for ~2 years or so. The location is northern Sarasota, FL. When I bought it, I put new spark plugs in it, changed the water pump, and the lower unit oil. It also has a new starter (installed in 2022). A new shift cable and new throttle cable were installed in 2021. Trim and tilt works fine.
The engine comes with the control cables, shifter and the oil tank for 2 cycle oil. Does NOT come with the prop shown. (Would sell it for an additional $450)
The engine is currently on the boat, and we took it out just yesterday, which was February 4. Reason for selling is that I’ve been bitten by the 4-stroke bug and will be upgrading.
My mechanic can have the engine removed and put on a pallet. You would then need to pick it up in Tampa. Another option is working work with a mechanic in Sarasota/Bradenton area of your choice to remove (removal your cost in that case). I’m not looking to ship. Local pickup only. Id be happy to start it and run it connected to the hose if you would like to check it out prior to bidding.
As you may know, these engines have a bit of a “cult following” due to their power and reliability. I do not know the overall engine hours.
Please note: sometimes the paint in ad photos makes them look shinier than they are in real life. You’ll note some typical fading on the engine cover and all.
